Get Out And Dance

Get Out And Dance

Can I remind you how important it is to be with people? Almost 90% of our interactions these days are non-verbal? This worries me because human connection is absolutely vital to our survival.

There’s a lot coming out these days about how electronic devices are making people unmotivated. In facet, the other day my kids told me that they didn’t want to play outside. Not because of the weather. But because they’d rather be watching YouTube or using their iPads. Yet it’s also what I see adults doing too. And to be honest, I’ve been guilty of it. Ugh!

In my past life as a contemporary dancer in NYC, being in a dance company was being in a family. We had to count on each other I so many ways. I became more sensitive to the feelings of my fellow dancers, and most importantly, received the human connection that we all need. Dancing with others is just SO much more inspirational! Here’s a fabulous article about the benefits of dancing with friends for overall health.

This same connection happens in my SharQui classes. Of course the workout is draws people in the first place but what keeps people coming and have people leaving inspired are the words, the energy, the community and the freedom of being yourself. It’s amazing and such a thrill to be a part of it.

So, I invite you to join me in person at my Philly workshops on September 8th. And if you’re not nearby, you can find a SharQui class near you here. And if you can’t find one, then start one (info to get trained here). Talk to me. I’d love to know how I can help with your fitness and dance goals.

Get out there and dance!
